A recent survey showed that 85% of Americans will still quarantine themselves if things reopen. If that's the case I think they should reopen once there is a plentiful supply of, masks, alcohol, disinfecting wipes, bleach etc. As it is now, there haven't been any of those things available for over a month in our area.

In Could you give an example of a comment that you feel is belittling? I’m not seeing any. Sometimes when we’re in a low mood or have hit a rough patch we read things into what people say or do. Is it possible that you could be misinterpreting people’s replies?
Either way, why not tell us specifically what’s going on? Maybe we can help, after all, it’s part of the human experience to feel lost and alone at times and it’s also part of the human experience to cheer each other up.

Are Jehovah Witnesses still trying to bring the good news to others during the pandemic?
by Maria Nieves ini am no longer a study.
during the onset of the pandemic the person who used to be my bible study teacher began to reach out to me.
initially, i just thought that she wanted to know that i was well.

They only associate with other JW's who are the same way and I don't think they hear themselves anymore or recognize the ironies. Once they've got what they want in the way of material possessions and financial security, they seem ready to condemn others who pursue a higher education, financial security and fine material possessions of their own.
It was a common thing to have a wealthy Elder who builds and sells large expensive houses to worldly people, give a talk or make a comment from the audience about the materialistic world that has no time for Jehovah because they are out working to support their materialistic pursuits and are storing treasures on earth rather than in heaven. They seem to ignore the fact that those materialistic world people and their ways are providing a fine living for him and his business is participating in distracting people with showy high priced homes rather than modest affordable ones.
Often there'd be a talk given about the closeness of the end and the urgency of the message and then after the meeting the speaker or other JW's would tell you about their upcoming cruise or their 14 day vacation to some sunny destination or invite you out for lunch as if they had all the time in the world.
During this pandemic, they are attending meetings via Zoom and writing letters to householders from their own home and are contacting backsliding relatives. Some are forming parades and driving by each others homes honking their horns and waving "we miss you" signs out the window as an encouragement or as something fun they can do to while away the time and not feel guilty.
Nothing wrong with any of those things but once they start condemning the world and claiming that the end is here, they set themselves up for having their own lives scrutinized.

Hello
by BoogerMan innot a lot to say, except that i studied with jw's then gave up when i realised it wasn't the truth as they call it.. the ordinary jw's are generally nice people, but their elders are mostly little dictators from what i saw.
look forward to meeting people here who are less judgemental..

All people are flawed and you have look past all that and your personal self and sacrifice that you give. Not what others are doing that is just
peingbeing petty. So are you saying that so long as you look past other peoples flaws, it doesn't matter what religion you belong to then? Are JW's being petty when they criticize other religions and their leaders?
Please tell us what the truth is as you say?
He didn't say what the truth was or that he had found it. He said that in his opinion JW's don't have THE truth as they claim to. To me, just the fact that they claim to be God's modern day Israelites and his earthly organization, is proof enough for most. After all, how can one possibly prove something like that?

US Letter Read Sunday 4/26 at Meeting - No KH Use and No Field Service Indefinitely
by JWTom inthere was a letter read sunday at our meeting that mentioned some parts of us are starting to open back up.
however, regardless of things opening up that no kingdom halls should be used for any meetings of any kind.
also, no door-to-door ministry or any form of in-person ministry is allowed.

I'm guessing there will be a lot of JW's who will realize that they like not having to go to meetings and their lives won't necessarily fall apart if they don't go. They might find that they've been away from the indoctrination long enough that when they do finally go back, they'll be seeing things with new eyes and the whole thing will seem weird to them.

I'm afraid opening things up again, too soon, will be like when you're taking antibiotics. If you stop taking them when you're feeling better instead of taking the whole bottle until it's empty, the infection will come back even worse than it was originally and is much more difficult to kick.

Yeah....it's pretty lonely at times (especially now) when you leave the group. That's why most stay with it even when it isn't making sense to them.
Right now with the covid19 distancing everyone is feeling a lot like what you're feeling but at least they know they can go back to their regular life once it's over.
In regard to your life vs death feelings, you're not the first person to feel that way nor, unfortunately will you be the last. You are in emotional pain and it's natural for you to want it to stop. Like most people you really want to live but you want the pain to stop and you don't have the skills YET to know how to go about it.
What you're going through now is kind of like physical exercise, you can't get stronger until you go through the pain and strain. No one can do it for you but they can encourage you to keep going and help you remember that everything is difficult before it becomes easy.
It may be helpful to stop looking back on how things were in your old life and comparing them to how things are now. It's too soon for that. We tend to look back on things and remember them better than what they really were. At the same time it may be helpful not to look to far into the future into the unknown. Right now odds are you won't be able to come up with anything hopeful about the future right now because there are too many unknowns. Looking too far into the future will make you feel worried and hopeless.
Try to stay in the moment as much as possible and trust that if you put one foot in front of the other and keep your nose pointed toward the things you want and your mind off of the things you don't want, you will get where you want to be.
Get a notebook and when you catch yourself worrying or ruminating on negative thoughts, write them down and write out a few possible solutions and two or three things you can do tomorrow to move you closer to where you want to be. Put the notebook aside and resist thinking about those things and find comfort in the fact that you have a plan for tomorrow, no matter how small it may seem.
It's good that you reached out to us here, most of us have been where you are at some point and have make it through to the other side.
Be patient with your self through this and try to remember that even though it feels like it, your life isn't an emergency. You are not responsible for having all of the answers all of the time. Happiness isn't like a bus stop that you arrive at one day and there you are. It comes in moments and hours and stretches of time both short and long. The more you're able to roll with the punches and adjust to change, the more of it you'll experience.
This is a weird time in history with all that's going on so your struggle is extra difficult right now. There are professional services out there who are now more than ever making themselves available by phone or internet to those who find themselves struggling. Take advantage of them. Keep talking and reaching out. Be helpful to others, reach out to someone in need. Often when we help someone else, we are benefited most. Avoid watching the news....go on a news fast. Make sure to get outside and take a walk for an hour each day so that you can gain a little perspective on life. Keep checking in here and let us know what's going on or ask for advice about specific areas you need help with.
You can stand just about anything if you take it an hour at a time.
